About Me:
Weeping Silence are a Female fronted Metal band formed in the mid-‘90s. The band went through a long period of musical experimentation with many line-up changes. It yet managed to always keep the musical direction which was set at its origin.

Weeping Silence released their debut album Deprived from Romance in 2000, which turned out to be a success. The line-up on this release included Dino Mifsud Lepre on vocals, Alfred Burd on bass and Mario Cilia on keyboards, together with core band members Mario Ellul, Angelo Zammit and Raphael Grech. Music on ‘Deprived from Romance’ is inclined towards a dreamy doom metal style, with clean dragging and sometimes moaning vocals, accompanied by harmonized guitar tunes and steady, slow tempo drumming. Weeping Silence also feature on a compilation CD entitled Arch Music Compilation.

Following the release of ‘Deprived from Romance’ the band decided that change was needed. Sean Pollacco replaced Alfred Burd on bass, and Rachel Grech replaced Dino Mifsud Lepre on vocals. Rachel added power with her strong voice, pushing the band into new territory within the local metal scene. Weeping Silence have played live with this line-up in many rock clubs and attracted a sizeable audience. In June 2003 Weeping Silence recorded their second album, ‘End of an Era’, at Temple Studios.

Soon after the recording of ‘End of an Era’ was complete, guitarist Raphael Grech was replaced by Toni Farrugia (Dilapidated, Orbus Vitae, Amentia). 2004 saw the band gig several times, write new material and market their newly recorded songs. Later the same year the band finalised a deal with Mexican Label Divenia Records, for the release of ‘End of an Era’. Unfortunately, the deal fell apart during the following year as Divenia ran out of funds and closed down. This forced the band back to the marketing phase for the album, with Europe as the focus of the campaign.

By the end of 2006, there was enough new material to record another album. Still without a deal for ‘End’ and no wish to release it independently, the band recorded their third album at Temple Studios. The material on this record is heavier than previous work and features an ensemble from Enkor Choir. It obviously retains the atmosphere and melancholy which are synonymous to Weeping Silence.

Mario Cilia left the band as soon as the recording was ready, to be replaced by talented pianist and keyboardist Alison Ellul. The long awaited break came in 2007 when Weeping Silence struck a two album deal with established Greek Label Sleaszy Rider Records.

Through this deal, Weeping Silence will be launching the album “End of an Era” , in memoriam of a friend and brother whom we all loved and respected, in 2008. The third album, which is yet untitled, is scheduled for release during the first months of 2009.

Weeping Silence are currently preparing for the release of ‘End of an Era’ and activities related to its launch. With three albums under the belt, the band is as committed as ever to improve on previous material. Latest material, which will hopefully become our fourth record, will surely surprise most metal fans with its blend of feel and heaviness.
